In America, the early performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the prodigy child category. A child of Irish origins, who was surrounded her by talented parents and family was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen was welcomed into the family-oriented house on August 17th, 20th in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the second daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and played rough, athletic games when she was young. Her talent for performing perfectly complemented her passion for athletics. The fact that she was awarded nearly all the Feis prizes for her own country's theater and drama proved this. In her 14th year, she joined the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying classical theatre and operatic vocals.
